Amboseli Sopa Lodge

Amboseli Sopa Lodge is a family-friendly lodge with a delightfully rustic charm, nestled in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro at the edge of Amboseli National Park. The lodge is set on 200 acres of private land, approximately 20 km from the Amboseli National Park Kimana Gate and 250 km by road from Nairobi. 

Flying from Nairobi to the lodge is about 40 minutes and an hour’s transfer time to the lodge from Amboseli Airstrip. Amboseli National Park (Kimana Gate) is 20 km away from the lodge.

Amboseli Sopa Lodge has 83 guestrooms comprising 71 double rooms, 9 single rooms, 1 presidential suite, 1 honeymoon suite, and 2 rooms for physically challenged guests. Each guestroom is brightly decorated with Maasai-themed wall murals and is tastefully fitted with air conditioning, sofas, a work desk, a verandah, and an en-suite bathroom.

The presidential suite has 2 bedrooms, a huge lounge area, a private dining room, an attached kitchenette, and a quite simply vast veranda.

The onsite restaurant serves a variety of local and international cuisine. The restaurant has a small but attractive recessed bar and an outdoor terrace where guests can dine and enjoy the views of Kilimanjaro.

The thatched roof restaurant is elegantly decorated with multicolored marble shards, suspended chandeliers, and clay tiles with evenly spaced carved wooden panels the central fireplace is decorated with wood carvings.

There are 3 bars; Mawenzi bar, Hemingway’s bar, and the pool bar. The Mawenzi bar is divided into two by a massive central fireplace; the inner section and the outer section. The pool bar is set in a brightly colored, rondavel-style building adjacent to the pool.

Hemingway’s Bar is perched on top of massive boulders at the highest point of the property; it offers uninterrupted 360 views of the surrounding landscapes and is the perfect place for an evening sundowner.

The lodge has conference facilities that provide an ideal venue for corporate events. The lodge also features a sauna and swimming pool. The well-manicured lawn is ideal for weddings. 

Amboseli Sopa Lodge activities include game drives, nature walks, bird watching, bush meals, sun-downers, village visits, Masai dancing bush and outdoor dining, card & board games, etc.
